A Song a Week

This week begins my last effort to save this blog from reclusiveness and obscurity, much like when I facebook friended J.D. Salinger (RIP). Starting this month, every Wednesday, the Johnny Fantastic "band in Japan" blog will feature a new original song by none of than the maestro himself - ME! Each weeks song will come with an MP3, lyrics, and a little "story behind the song." And so, with further mucking about:

Song of the Week - Creature

The idea came to me via Adam "Ratamatack" Cisney, the drummer of my band "Loose Kingdom." He sped over on his bike one morning nearly catching me in my unmentionables and quickly banged out the songs "hook" on guitar along with the lyrics for the first verse. Having found the hook undeniably catchy, I soon constructed a song around it, trying to mix in some varying styles (including smooth jazz, ska, and noise rock). With the help of Sher, I finished the lyrics and so "Creature" was born. Enjoy!

Creature

music by A. Ratamacue, J. Fantastic
lyrics by A. Ratamacue, J. Fantastic, S. Khan

And if you can't understand
What kind of creature I am
It's cuz I'm twisted

And if you see me walk by
I got my eye on your prize
Just gonna grip it
Grip it and rip it

So please don't go far
Stay where you are

Cuz if you ever walk out
I'll track your scent with my snout
And wallow in it

Your insincere attitude
Hangs off your face like a snood
I'd like to snip it
